PERSONAL
William M. Dawson, a native of
Salem, New Jersey, is the son of the late
Charles L. Dawson and Emmaline M. Dawson. He is richly blessed to have a
partner in life and ministry, his wife, Beverly and from this
union two daughters: Jazmine and Jessica.
EDUCATION
He was formerly educated in
the public school system of Salem
County. In 1998, he
graduated from Saint Leo
University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in
Religion and Theology and received his M. Div. from Virginia
Union University,
School of Theology. He has also received
advanced training in Clinical Pastoral Education and continues to enhance
his pastoral skills through continuing education. During his formal
years, Rev. Dawson was deemed as and Outstanding Leader and was listed in
Who's Who of Young Americans. He
is now a Doctoral candidate at Regent
University.
PASTORATE
Along the course of his
ministry, he served as the Interim-pastor of the Oasis of Peace Gospel
Service in Saudi Arabia.
In 1995, he was ordained as an Apostolic Elder in Roslia Church
in Cairo, Egypt. He has also served
as an Associate Minister of New Bethel Baptist
Church in Yorktown,
Virginia, where Rev. David Paulden is the Pastor and as an Associate Minister at New Mount Olive
Baptist Church
where the Rev. Dr. W. Randolph Rylander is the pastor. In January of
2000, he was ordained at the Providence
Baptist Church.
That same year he assumed the pastorate of the Mount Gilead Baptist Church
of Williamsburg. Under his leadership, Mount Gilead
has experienced explosive growth spiritually, and numerically. As an
Entrepreneur and former founder and President of the NAACP, Pastor Dawson
brings an immense array of versatility and compassion to the
pastorate. In March of 2001, he was appointed as Director of
Religious Affairs for the local NAACP Branch.
EXTENDED MINISTERIAL
EXPERIENCES
Since the time of this
marriage, God has richly manifested Himself in it's midst. The Lord
has laid on the heart of this anointed man of God a vision to "Build
Community." A faith community
that will not only touches the hearts of people but empower and inspire every
individual within it to the things of God. Under pastor Dawson's
leadership, Mount Gilead has launched the following ministries:
Evangelism Class, Couples Ministry, Youth
Church, Noon-Time Bible Study,
Computer Training, Saturday Tutorial Program, the Mount
Gilead Christian
Academy and Day Care, the Gilead International
Center for Leadership Development
in Busia, Kenya, and the Gilead Community
Development Corp., to build affordable housing within the Williamsburg
Community.
